The Chicago Cubs got a strong performance from pitcher Mike Hampton, who stymied the New York offense en route to a 5-2 win at Wrigley Field. The winning streak has now reached 6 games for the Cubs.

Trot Nixon contributed to the Chicago win. The 22-year old right fielder stroked a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, Nixon went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
