Orioles Beat Visiting Dodgers, 5-2
|
The Baltimore Orioles topped the Los Angeles Dodgers, 5-2, in United League action at Memorial Stadium. The player of the game was Baltimore pitcher Steve Avery. The Orioles' win now puts them at 51-65.
Johnny Damon had a big run-scoring single for the Orioles in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Baltimore leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a curveball from Garrett Stephenson and stroked the single to left. It was his 109th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Orioles ahead, 2-0.
"I felt good up there," said Damon. "I saw the ball well."
