Floyd Helps New York Cruise to 11-3 Win
The New York Mets knocked off the Seattle Pilots, 11-3, at Kingdome. Cliff Floyd, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason New York won. The left fielder went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Frank Castillo got credit for the win, improving to 12-9. He allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 9 innings. Their 64-53 record puts the Mets 4th in the United League East Division.

New York right fielder Magglio Ordonez helped his team take an early lead. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he hit a run-scoring double.
