Padres Win 6-5 Walk-Off
|
Robby Thompson made an impact in the 6-5 San Diego win over Toronto. Thompson, who is a two-time All-Star, was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Tim Crews in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Scott Ruskin took the loss. The 4th-place Padres improved to 57-61.
Thompson had a game-changing single in the bottom of the ninth. On a 2-0 sinker from Scott Ruskin, he banged a run-scoring single to right-center, giving the Padres a 6-5 lead. It was the 9th hit of the year for Thompson.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Thompson told the San Diego Observer.
