Rockies Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Tigers
|
Colorado rode a decent outing from starter Curt Schilling to victory over the Detroit Tigers at Mile High Stadium. The final score was 4-3. Colorado reliever Robb Nen picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Tony Fossas absorbed the loss. The Rockies bumped their record to 66-50 with this latest triumph.
The Rockies got an important contribution from catcher Todd Pratt, who in the bottom of the ninth hit a first pitch fastball into left for a run-scoring single. It was his 30th hit of the season and put the Rockies ahead, 4-3.
"Both teams played hard," said Colorado manager JD Morris.
