Mets Lose to Padres, 10-1
|
Chuck Finley pitched a gem to lead San Diego to a 10-1 victory over the New York Mets. Finley, now 7-6, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. The 'W' lifts San Diego's record to 52-65.
It could have been a different outcome for San Diego, had it not been for Manuel Lee, the five-time Gold Glove winner . Lee contributed a solo home run in the top of the second inning to put San Diego up, 2-0.
Padres manager Matt Dodds had nothing but praise for his players after an impressive win, calling the result one of the team's best performances of the season. "Everything just came together on our end," he said. "I didn't need to do too much."
