Senators Walk It Off for 37th Win of Season
|
In a tight contest at RFK Stadium, the Washington Senators edged the Colorado Rockies by the score of 4-3. Washington first baseman Rafael Palmeiro, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. Washington reliever Todd Jones picked up the win, upping his record to 2-4. Robb Nen took the loss. Even with the win, the Senators have a dismal 37-81 record.
Palmeiro had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the 11th. On a 0-1 fastball from Robb Nen, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Senators a 4-3 lead. It was the 25th home run of the year for Palmeiro.
"This is a resilient bunch," said Washington manager Alexander Cumana.
