The home crowd came to cheer on their first-place Montreal Expos at Olympic Stadium.

The Montreal Expos bested the Colorado Rockies, 6-4, at Olympic Stadium. Leo Gomez was named player of the game. He went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Jon Lieber, the winner, improved to 11-6. He held the Rockies to 4 earned runs on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Dave Leiper got the save, his 4th in 6 chances.
