Orioles Squelch Diamondbacks Offense in Shutout Win
|
Bill Spiers knocked in 3 runs to help Baltimore beat Arizona, 4-0. Spiers produced 2 singles and 1 home run. Ben McDonald earned the win for Baltimore. He lasted 6 innings, allowing no earned runs on 3 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 8-11. Julian Tavarez, credited with the save, is now 8 for 15 in save opportunities.
Lyle Mouton put Baltimore in front, 2-0, when he took Scott Sanders downtown. His solo home run came with one out in the bottom of the fifth. It was his 12th home run of the season.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Mouton said after the game.
Baltimore is now 52-65, Arizona 62-57.
