Multi-HR Day for Bonds as Red Sox Overpower Creams, 9-2
|
The Boston Red Sox defeated the Milwaukee Creams, 9-2, at Milwaukee County Stadium today. Leading the charge for Boston was left fielder Barry Bonds. He went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Pete Harnisch, the winner, improved to 7-8. He held the Creams to 2 earned runs on 4 hits over 9 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 2. The win puts the Red Sox at 46-73, while the Creams drop to 67-54.
Boston used the timely hitting of Tim Bogar to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Red Sox on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It feels good to get this one," Bonds told the Boston Chronicle.
