Senators Prevail, 2-1, Over Colorado
|
Washington starter Jamie Moyer pitched effectively against the Colorado Rockies at RFK Stadium. The left-hander led his team to a 2-1 win. Moyer, now 5-8, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. Vince Horsman, credited with the save, is now 1 for 4 in save opportunities.
Mike Stanley contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With a runner on 3rd, he drew a walk. It was one at-bat that helped Washington get the win.
"The old adage is true," said Moyer. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
Even with the win, the Senators have a dismal 38-81 record.
