Multi-HR Game for Palmeiro in 7-4 Win
Getting a good performance from first baseman Rafael Palmeiro, the Washington Senators defeated the San Francisco Giants, 7-4. Palmeiro hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Senators. Mike Morgan got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits in 7 innings. Lee Smith, credited with the save, is now 15 for 17 in save opportunities.

Palmeiro had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-0 curveball from Jim Poole, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Senators a 5-3 lead. It was the 32nd home run of the year for Palmeiro.

"We played hard and won," said Palmeiro. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'

The first-place Giants have lost 5 straight games.
