Rangers Win Thriller, 4-3
|
Orlando got a terrific performance from pitcher Wilson Alvarez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Texas Rangers. Texas won the Arlington Stadium contest, 4-3. Alvarez was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 7-hit ball. Texas reliever Rob Murphy picked up the win, bumping his record to 8-9. Wilson Alvarez was collared with the loss. Texas has now won 9 in a row.
Gerald Young was the walk-off hero for Texas. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Rangers center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Young.
