Cubs Score Late, Stun Devil Rays, 3-2
|
The Chicago Cubs managed to get by the Orlando Devil Rays, 3-2, at Wrigley Field. Chicago pitcher Angel Miranda took player of the game honors. Miranda, now 3-3, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 9, walking 4, and allowing 2 earned runs. Chicago is now 54-65, Orlando 62-58.
The Cubs beat the Devil Rays with some clutch hitting. The home run by Jeff Cirillo in the bottom of the ninth is a good example. With two down, Cirillo gave his team the lead, 3-2, when he came through with the big hit.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Cirillo said.
