Dodgers Lose to Tigers in Walk Off
|
The Tigers grabbed a win, 6-3, at Tiger Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Los Angeles pitcher Roger Clemens. Clemens went 8 innings and allowed 1 earned run. The winner was Elmer Dessens in relief. His record improves to 4-2. Scott Radinsky took the loss. Even with the win, the Tigers have a dismal 38-82 record.
Brent Mayne was the walk-off hero for Detroit. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Tigers catcher hit a dramatic 3-run home run to send the teams home.
"This team was really clicking on all cylinders," said Detroit manager Julio Izquierdo. "We had several crucial at-bats, and our guys came through."
