Royals Bang Out 7-3 Win Versus Minnesota
|
Kansas City designated hitter Jim Thome played a vital role in his team's 7-3 triumph over Minnesota. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Kansas City. Rick Reed was the winner. Over 9 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. The Twins fall to 6-7 and continue their wobbly start to the 1995 season.
Kansas City took a 5-3 lead on Rick Wilkins's 11th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Wilkins hit in the top of the eighth, left Minnesota pitcher Trevor Hoffman shaking his head.
"I like our moxie," said Royals manager Daniel Drucker.
