Multi-HR Game for Rivera in 8-5 Win
|
Spirited fans at Metrodome greeted the Minnesota Twins for their clash with the Chicago White Sox.
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Ruben Rivera, the Chicago White Sox defeated the Minnesota Twins, 8-5. Rivera went 2-2 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the White Sox. Chicago reliever Jeff E. Gray picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-4. Jerry Spradlin was collared with the loss.
In the top of the ninth, Chicago designated hitter Mark Carreon had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Carreon stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 8-5, Chicago. For the game, he was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Rivera told a Chicago Daily reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
The last-place White Sox have won 4 consecutive games.
