Royals Sneak Past Spiders, 2-1
Kevin Brown was superb against Cleveland. The right-hander, who led the FL in wins with 21 in 1992, had a sinker that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a 2-1 Royals victory. Brown went the distance for Kansas City. He gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits. Kansas City is now 72-49, 4½ games up in the Federal League Central Division.

With runs few and far between, the Royals had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Kansas City came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when pinch hitter Quilvio Veras delivered a run-scoring triple. The triple was hit off Steve Cooke and made the score 2-1, Royals. Veras went 1 for 1 with a triple.

"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Veras.
