Expos Stymie Detroit, Take 7-1 Win
|
The Montreal Expos racked up a win at Olympic Stadium, bumping off the Detroit Tigers, 7-1. Roger Clemens, who started for Montreal, pitched effectively for his team. Clemens, the winner, moves to 6-1. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 10 and giving up 2 walks. Detroit now has a 5-game losing streak.
Ricky Otero, who is the 3rd-best prospect in the Expos organization, aided the Montreal cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the second. For the game, the center fielder went 1-4 with a double and a walk.
"We're one win closer to our goal," Otero said in postgame remarks.
