Olympic Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Baltimore Orioles and Montreal Expos.

The Montreal Expos went home winners at Olympic Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Mark Guthrie. Guthrie silenced the Baltimore Orioles, enabling Montreal to grab the 2-0 win. Mike Jeffcoat converted his 12th save in 16 tries.

Guthrie gave Montreal a solid start. The left-hander allowed no runs on 6 hits over 8 innings.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Guthrie said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."

The first-place Expos, at 79-43, now lead their division by 7½ games.
