Extra-Inning Win by Dodgers over Diamondbacks
|
The Los Angeles Dodgers stopped the Arizona Diamondbacks, 7-6, behind an impressive performance from Scott Hatteberg. The 26-year old catcher made life miserable for Arizona pitching. He was 2 for 5 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The Dodgers saw their win-loss record go to 56-67. At the same time, the Diamondbacks fell to 71-51.
The Dodgers got an important contribution from right fielder Shawn Green, who in the bottom of the 15th stroked a 1-2 changeup into right-center for a solo home run. It was his 27th home run of the season and put the Dodgers ahead, 7-6.
"This game will make a man of you," said Andrew Cole, the Los Angeles skipper, "if it doesn't kill you first."
