Cincinnati Reds starter Joey Hamilton pitched a strong game against the Cleveland Spiders at League Park, leading the Reds to a 4-3 win. Cincinnati reliever Arthur Rhodes picked up the win, upping his record to 5-5. Willie Banks took the loss. The Reds bumped their record to 71-51 with this latest triumph.

Cincinnati used the bat of Scott Rolen to get the win. The third baseman hammered a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Reds ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"It was a good effort all around," said Hamilton.
