Sun Rays Prevail, 7-5, Over New York
|
The Orlando Sun Rays topped the New York Yankees, 7-5, with center fielder Brian Jordan playing a big role. Jordan went 2-5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for the Sun Rays in the win. Andy Benes got the win, improving to 12-9. He worked 9 innings, giving up 5 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 3. Orlando's record now stands at 56-66, placing them 4th in the Federal League East Division.
Orlando relied on the hitting of Ivan Rodriguez to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Sun Rays on top, 4-1. For the game, Rodriguez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
