Tigers Lose to Mets, 7-3
|
New York Mets starter Jason Isringhausen was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Detroit Tigers, 7-3. Detroit, at 3-9, is off to a poor start in 1997.
New York used the timely hitting of Bret Boone to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Mets ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We take it day by day here," said Boone, "and today was a good one for us."
