Senators Prove Rude Guests, Win 6-4 at Baltimore
|
Washington rode a decent outing from starter John Burkett to victory over the Baltimore Orioles at Memorial Stadium. The final score was 6-4. Lee Smith got the save, the 1st for him this season. The Orioles fall to 5-7 and continue to sputter in the early going.
Chipping in for Washington was designated hitter Fred McGriff. He stroked a 2-run single in the top of the fifth. For the game, McGriff was 1-3 with 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Washington manager Alexander Cumana.
