Orioles Drop Another One
|
The Washington Senators racked up a win at Memorial Stadium, bumping off the Baltimore Orioles, 5-3. Mike Morgan, who started for Washington, pitched effectively for his team. In 6.1 innings, Morgan surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 4. He allowed 2 runs. The last-place Orioles have lost 12 consecutive games.
Washington used the clutch hitting of Rafael Palmeiro to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Senators the lead, 5-1. For the game, Palmeiro had 2 singles and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"We take it day by day here," said Palmeiro, "and today was a good one for us."
