Orioles Continue Skid Thanks to Puckett, Tigers
|
With designated hitter Kirby Puckett leading the charge, the Detroit Tigers defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 9-6, at Memorial Stadium. Puckett, who finished 4th in the UL in triples with 11 in 1990, was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Baltimore's current losing streak is now 4 games.
The Tigers extended their lead in the top of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, Darrin Jackson hit a sacrifice fly to make it 5-3, Detroit.
"I believe in our guys," said Detroit skipper Julio Izquierdo. "I like the energy they're playing with."
