Orioles Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Expos
|
The Orioles grabbed a win, 4-3, at Memorial Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Montreal pitcher Jon Lieber. Lieber went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Baltimore reliever Julian Tavarez picked up the win to move to 2-0. Mike Jeffcoat suffered the loss. Losses have been few and far between for the Expos so far this season. Their record drops to 9-4.
Matt Nokes, who is a six-time All-Star, chipped in for Baltimore with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"I was a little disappointed," said Montreal manager David Polakoff. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
