Yankees Drop Another One
The Orlando Devil Rays got a stellar effort from pitcher John Smoltz, helping Orlando score a 9-2 win over the visiting New York Yankees. The Yankees, now 43-82, have lost 9 straight.

Ivan Rodriguez had a big 2-run single for the Devil Rays in the bottom of the first inning. With Orlando leading 2-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a forkball from Mark Clark and stroked the single to center. It was his 111st hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Devil Rays ahead, 4-1.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Rodriguez told reporters after the game.
