Rangers Prove Rude Guests, Win 6-5 at St. Louis
|
The Texas Rangers managed to get by the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-5, at Busch Stadium. Texas pitcher Kenny Rogers took player of the game honors. Rogers picked up the win for Texas, going 8 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 13-9. Billy Taylor notched his 8th save in 11 chances.
Texas used the bat of John Kruk to get the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Rangers ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Kruk told the Texas Herald.
Texas is 54-71 and St. Louis, with the loss, 70-56.
