Blue Jays Mow Down Orioles, 11-2
|
The Toronto Blue Jays got a strong performance from pitcher John Smiley, who stymied the Baltimore offense en route to a 11-2 win at Memorial Stadium. Smiley picked up the win for Toronto, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 10-10. With the win, Toronto has a record of 66-60. Baltimore falls to 41-84.
Toronto used the bat of Hector Villanueva to get the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"There's a lot of fight left in this team," said Villanueva.
