Orioles Prevail, 4-2, Over New York
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Ron Gant, the Baltimore Orioles defeated the New York Mets, 4-2. Gant was 2-4 with 2 home runs for the Orioles. Baltimore reliever Chuck Cary picked up the win, upping his record to 6-0. Bob Milacki took the loss. The Orioles bumped their record to 66-59 with this latest triumph.
Baltimore took the lead with no one out in the bottom of the seventh when Leo Gomez stroked a solo home run. That made the score 3-2 in favor of Baltimore. For the day, Gomez was 1-4 with a home run.
"We take it day by day here," said Gomez, "and today was a good one for us."
