Blue Jays Throttle Orioles, 7-0
|
Toronto Blue Jays starter John Smiley was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Baltimore Orioles, 7-0. Baltimore has now lost 5 straight.
Dean Palmer had a big solo home run for the Blue Jays in the top of the fifth inning. With Toronto leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a curveball from Dwight Gooden and stroked the home run to right. It was his 26th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blue Jays ahead, 2-0.
In postgame comments to the Toronto Observer, Palmer said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
