Rockies Fall Short, 3-2, at San Diego
|
Colorado right fielder Dmitri Young had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Young was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, even as San Diego beat the Rockies, 3-2. Young was named the player of the game despite the loss. San Diego starter Rick Krivda was credited with the win after throwing 103 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 5-2. Colorado now has a 5-game losing streak.
With one out in the bottom of the sixth, Geronimo Berroa hit a go-ahead run-scoring single. It was his 61st hit of the season and with it the Padres took a 3-2 lead.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Berroa told the San Diego Today. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
