Marlins Slip Past Boston, 3-2
|
The Florida Marlins got a strong performance from pitcher Kevin Appier, who stymied the Boston offense en route to a 3-2 win at Fenway Park. The Marlins have an impressive 78-48 record.
The Marlins used some clutch hitting to beat the Red Sox, a good example being the at-bat of Charles Johnson in the top of the eighth. With two down, Johnson gave his team the lead, 3-1, when he hit a 2-run home run.
Boston manager Brett Williams said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
