Getting a good performance from catcher Todd Greene, the Boston Red Sox defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 3-2. Greene belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Red Sox. Reliever Paul Assenmacher picked up the win. His record improves to 6-3. Arthur Rhodes took the loss. Boston is in 5th place in the Federal League East Division with a record of 49-78.

Greene brought the fans to their feet in the bottom of the ninth, when the 26-year old catcher ripped a 2-run home run. The round-tripper put Boston ahead, 3-2.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Boston manager Brett Williams.
