Cardinals Raise Rally Flag, Beat Minnesota, 9-6
Steve Finley helped his team muscle past the Minnesota Twins, 9-6. In the game, the St. Louis right fielder went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. St. Louis reliever Randy Myers was the winner. His record is now 4-0. Jerry Spradlin took the loss. St. Louis currently is in second place in the Federal League Central Division at 74-53.

The Cardinals got a lift from center fielder Stan Javier, who in the top of the ninth stroked a 3-1 fastball into left-center for a 3-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Cardinals ahead, 9-6.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Finley told the St. Louis Citizen.
