The Montreal Expos picked up a win at Olympic Stadium, knocking off the Washington Senators, 6-3. Starting pitcher Pedro Martinez, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The 4th-place Senators have dropped 4 straight games.

Gregg Jefferies's at-bat in the bottom of the fifth was significant, coming with a runner on 1st and the game tied, 2-2. The Montreal right fielder hit a 2-run home run off Andy Pettitte to put the Expos up.

"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Martinez.
