Stanley Slugs Senators to 6-1 Win
|
The Washington Senators stymied the Montreal Expos, 6-1, at Olympic Stadium. Mike Stanley, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for Washington. Even with the win, the Senators have a dismal 41-86 record.
Stanley was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice against the Expos. With the game tied in the top of the fourth inning, he hit a sacrifice fly that scored 1 and put Washington in front, 1-0.
"You score one run, you're not going to win," said Montreal skipper David Polakoff. "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
