Mets Shut Out Orioles
|
The New York Mets went home winners at Memorial Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Frank Castillo. Castillo silenced the Baltimore Orioles, enabling New York to grab the 4-0 win. The winning pitcher was Castillo, now 13-9. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. New York has a 3-game win streak, while Baltimore has lost 3 in a row.
It could have been a different outcome for New York, had it not been for Tom Pagnozzi, the 35-year old catcher . Pagnozzi contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put New York up, 2-0.
Pagnozzi attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
