San Francisco right-hander Floyd Youmans pitched his team to a shutout win, 7-0, over the Colorado Rockies. Jim Poole got the save, his 2nd in 5 chances. San Francisco is now 72-55, 4½ games up in the United League West Division.

Jose Canseco was vital part of the San Francisco win. He went 1-4 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth with two out, Canseco hit a solo home run. It made the score 2-0, in favor of the Giants.

"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Canseco.
