San Francisco and Oakland duked it out at Oakland Coliseum and the Giants came out victorious.

San Francisco catcher Sandy Alomar Jr. had a 3-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Oakland Athletics, 7-4. The winner was Scott Sanders, who threw 105 pitches over 6 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 7 hits. Mark Dewey sewed up the save, his 1st.

With San Francisco leading 3-2 in the top of the fifth, Alomar Jr. hit a changeup from Jamie Moyer for a 2-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Giants ahead, 5-2.
