Twins Get One-Run Win at Orlando
Orlando got a terrific performance from shortstop Jose Valentin, but it wasn't enough to beat the Minnesota Twins. Minnesota won the Orlando Citrus Bowl contest, 5-4. Valentin was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. Rob Dibble was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 31 of 35 save opportunities. The 5th-place Twins raised their record to 59-68.

Minnesota relied on the hitting of Brent Gates to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Twins on top, 5-0. For the game, Gates had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
