Cardinals Continue Skid Thanks to Abreu, Yankees
|
The New York Yankees grabbed a 5-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. New York right fielder Bobby Abreu slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice to earn player of the game honors. Brian Bohanon picked up the win, improving his season record to 8-15. He struck out 5 in 7.1 innings. The Cardinals, now 63-64, have lost 4 straight.
New York took a 5-0 lead on Abreu's 17th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Rusty Meacham in the top of the eighth, propelled New York to the win.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Abreu.
