Victory Pushes Marlins Record to 8-6
|
The Florida Marlins got a stellar performance from pitcher Al Leiter, who handcuffed the Cleveland offense en route to a 4-2 win at League Park. Paul Shuey got credit for the save for Florida. It was his 1st of the year. The win brings the Marlins to 8-6, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Early in the game, right fielder Rondell White had a 2-run home run for Florida. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Marlins on top, 2-0.
"Enjoyed this one," Leiter told the Florida Chronicle. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
