Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Cubs
|
The Chicago Cubs picked up a win at Wrigley Field, knocking off the Boston Red Sox, 3-2. Starting pitcher Brian Holman played a key role in the triumph. Chicago is 57-71 and Boston, with the loss, 50-79.
The Cubs got an important contribution from first baseman Mike Piazza, who in the bottom of the 12th stroked a 1-1 fastball into center for a solo home run. It was his 32nd home run of the season and put the Cubs ahead, 3-2.
"This place was jumping at the end," Piazza said.
