Mets Come Back Late to Clip Giants
The San Francisco Giants got a superb performance from pitcher Omar Daal. Still, it wasn't enough to beat New York. The Mets won the game, 3-1. In spite of the loss, Daal was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball. The winner was New York reliever Wayne Edwards, now 2-3. The loser was Omar Daal. The second-place Mets have won 4 straight games.

New York took a 3-1 lead on Lance Johnson's 8th triple of the season. The 2-run triple, which Johnson hit in the bottom of the eighth, left San Francisco pitcher Xavier Hernandez shaking his head.

"We're one win closer to our goal," Johnson said in postgame remarks.
