Late Rally by Athletics Secures Win
The Oakland Athletics got a magnificent effort from pitcher Jamie Moyer, who kept Detroit hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Athletics win at Tiger Stadium. Moyer got the win, improving to 11-10. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. Moyer allowed 1 earned run. The Athletics sit in last place in the United League West Division with a record of 56-72.

Runs were scarce in this one. So, Herbert Perry's at-bat in the top of the eighth was vitally important. With one out, the Oakland third baseman hit a sacrifice fly, to give his team a 2-1 lead.

"It was a good effort all around," said Perry.
