Red Sox Beat Visiting Cubs, 4-1
|
Boston starter Tim Worrell put a stranglehold on the Chicago offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Red Sox to a 4-1 win. The win was credited to Doug Bochtler in relief. His record improves to 8-7. Randy Tomlin took the loss. Joe Borowski, credited with the save, is now 3 for 4 in save opportunities.
Tim Bogar, the Boston shortstop, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the eighth inning to make the score 2-1, Red Sox. For the game, Bogar was 1 for 1.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Chicago manager Anthony Perez.
Boston is 49-81 and Chicago, with the loss, 72-59.
