Reds Walk Off with 8-7 Win
|
The Charlotte Knights and Cincinnati Reds cranked it up at Riverfront Stadium.
The Charlotte Knights got a sterling performance from catcher Lenny Webster, but the Reds still prevailed, 8-7. Webster was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The winner was Arthur Rhodes in relief. His record improves to 7-6. Chad Fox took the loss.
Scott Spiezio had a nice at-bat for the Reds with no one out in the bottom of the tenth. With a runner on 1st, the first baseman drew a walk, which would prove important in the Cincinnati win.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Reds manager Eric Deutsch. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
Cincinnati has now won 3 in a row.
