Expos Sneak Past Senators, 4-3
|
Washington pitcher Kevin Ritz gave the Expos all they could handle, but in the end, Montreal left Olympic Stadium with a 4-3 win. Ritz allowed no earned runs on 2 hits over 7 innings. Montreal reliever Ken Howell picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Vince Horsman shouldered the loss. Washington, at 4-10, is off to a poor start in 1994.
Montreal center fielder Alex Cole had a key at-bat for the Expos in the bottom of the 12th inning. Facing left-hander Vince Horsman, Cole reached on an error by the center fielder, driving in 1 run. It put Montreal in front, 4-3. For the day, Cole drew 1 walk in 6 plate appearances.
"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant David Polakoff, the Montreal skipper.
