Victory Pushes Cubs Record to 80-51
|
Chicago played host to Cleveland at the friendly confines of Wrigley Field.
Chicago Cubs starter Randy Tomlin pitched a strong game against the Cleveland Spiders at Wrigley Field, leading the Cubs to a 6-2 win. Tomlin went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 15-8.
In the bottom of the sixth, with Chicago leading 3-1, shortstop Jeff Cirillo hit a 3-run home run. The hit came off Bret Saberhagen and put the Cubs ahead, 6-1.
"Everything felt in sync," said Tomlin.
Chicago has now reeled off 6 straight wins.
