Chicago got a strong outing from Eric King as the Cubs defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 5-2, at Wrigley Field. Chicago, at 73-59, occupies third place in the Federal League Central Division.
With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Chris Hoiles had a game-changing hit. The Cubs catcher slammed a bases-clearing double off Danny Jackson, making the score 5-2, Chicago.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Hoiles told reporters after the game.
