Dodgers Clip Mets, 3-2
The Los Angeles Dodgers took New York pitcher Randy Johnson's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Shea Stadium. The final score had Los Angeles getting past the Mets, 3-2. Johnson went 6 innings and allowed 2 earned runs, striking out 12. Roger Clemens was the winner. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 4 strikeouts. Ricardo Rincon was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 24 of 30 save opportunities.

Jason Varitek contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the fourth. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one at-bat that helped Los Angeles get the win.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Los Angeles manager Dave Ginter. "It's usually not just one thing."

The Dodgers are now 67-65, while the Mets fall to 76-55.
