Mets Prevail, 3-2, Over Oakland
|
Shea Stadium was the site of a tense game between the Oakland Athletics and New York Mets.
New York starter Frank Castillo had a strong outing against the Oakland Athletics at Shea Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 3-2 win. Dan Plesac got the save, his 20th in 22 chances.
New York took a 3-2 lead on Bret Boone's 15th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Boone hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Oakland pitcher Mike Magnante shaking his head.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Castillo.
The second-place Mets have won 6 in a row.
