Tartabull Slugs Royals to 4-2 Win
|
The Kansas City Royals beat the New York Yankees, 4-2, at Yankee Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Danny Tartabull, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Kansas City leads the Federal League Central Division by 8 games.
Flexing his muscles for Kansas City was the aforementioned Tartabull. The first baseman had a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth for the Royals. It put his team ahead, 4-1, and sent them on to victory.
Tartabull attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
