Spiders Turn Back Cubs, 5-3
|
Cleveland left-hander Carlos Perez pitched his team to victory over the Chicago Cubs at League Park. The final score was 5-3. The winning pitcher was Perez, now 3-4. He tossed 5 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. At 64-68, the Spiders are currently 4th in the Federal League East Division.
The Spiders beat the Cubs with some clutch hitting. The home run by Todd Hundley in the bottom of the first is a good example. With two down, Hundley gave his team the lead, 2-0, when he came through with the big hit.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Hundley said.
