White Sox Score Late, Upend Red Sox, 4-3
|
The Chicago White Sox did just enough to sneak past the Boston Red Sox, 4-3, at Fenway Park. Chicago pitcher Scott Bankhead earned player of the game honors. Bankhead, the winner, moves to 10-11. He threw 9 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 1 walk. The last-place White Sox have won 4 in a row.
It could have been a different outcome for Chicago, had it not been for Tony Batista, the top prospect . Batista contributed a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put Chicago up, 4-3.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Boston manager Brett Williams.
